The Reflection Map: Charting Your Journey to Personal Growth

As the year wraps up, it’s natural to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re headed. I often recommend that clients write a letter to themselves, but this year I want to shake things up. I want you to try creating a “Reflection Map”—a visual representation of your personal growth over the past year.
So, What is a Reflection Map?
A Reflection Map is like a treasure map, but instead of trying to find gold, it charts your progress, lessons learned, and dreams for the future. It’s a creative and interactive way to capture your journey and set intentions for what’s ahead.
How to Create Your Reflection Map:
Start with Key Milestones: Mark the major events or achievements from the past year.
Example: “Started therapy,” “Reconnected with an old friend,” or “Learned to say no.”
Highlight Challenges: Acknowledge obstacles and what they taught you.
Example: “Overcame fear of change” or “Learned to prioritize self-care.”
Set Your North Star: Define a guiding value or goal for the coming year.
Example: “More presence, less perfection.”
Add Personal Touches: Include quotes, doodles, or symbols that inspire you.
Why It Works:
It’s visual and engaging, making your growth tangible.
It encourages self-awareness and celebrates progress.
It gives you a clear direction for the next phase of your journey.
Takeaway:
Instead of writing your reflection, draw it out! Your Reflection Map is a unique keepsake that reminds you of your resilience and potential.
